1917: Russian Phoenixes in the West
Devoted to the Russian artistic diaspora, the exhibition raises the prolific exchange between Russia and the West. Many artists in the first quarter of the 20th Century left their homeland for France, Germany or United States. Their work varied widely in terms of style, as did their careers before and after departure. A special emphasis will be placed in Paris which was indisputably a major artistic location. The exhibition brings together over thirty paintings, which collectively explore their conversion into a new aesthetic dimension.
Artists included: Tamara Lempicka, Alexej von Jawlensky, Sonia Delaunay, Vera Rockline, Boris Anisfeld, Chaïm Soutine and many more.
